I initially subscribed to “The Edublogger“  because I was interested to see examples, strategies, and suggestions for the use of IWB (interactive whiteboards).  “The Edublogger” has some useful tips and ideas on how to get more student interaction with this technological tool, and upon further reading, she offered some thoughts on additional widgets to use on your blog.  I particularly am interested in Clustrmaps , and was pleased to see this featured here, mainly because I teach world geography and this tool shows the students just how interconnected we are on a global scale.

The global scale also figured prominently in The Edublogger post on “A Student Blogging Competion“, with students from around the world (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Portugal and USA) participating.  Although it’s too late to get my students started at this point, it would be something I consider for next year.

Glad you’re finding The Edublogger helpful. Have you subscribed to some of the people I linked to in the post about the IWB competition as they write a lot about IWBs.

Never too late to join the student blogging competition. It is going to be over a ten week period and the activities will be posted in one place so you could join any time. If you have a class blog, then join as a class. If students have their own blogs, then they join as individuals.

If the competition works well this time, we will probably run it again next year.

Here is the site to register at: http://wyatt67.edublogs.org/2008/08/01/blogging-competition-for-students/

This is the link to keep up to date with the activities: http://wyatt67.edublogs.org/student-blogging-competition-stubc08/

Sue – There were lots of great suggestions for IWB sites, and for right now I’ve subscribed to “Wandering the Web” and “The Whiteboard Blog”. I look forward to finding some time to catch up on all of these great resources!
